As for the plot of the series, New Amsterdam throws the entire spotlight on Dr. Max Goodwin as he has become the medical director of one of the oldest public hospitals that are present in the United States. His aim is to tear up the bureaucracy so that he can provide some exceptional care to all of his patients. As for the cast members that are employed in the series, we have Ryan Eggold reprising the role of Dr. Maximus Goodwin. When the show starts, his wife Georgia is pregnant with his child. Although, things are a bit edgy between them. Then we have Janet Montgomery who enacts the character of Dr. Lauren Bloom. She is the head of the Emergency Department.

Freema Agyeman plays the part of Dr. Helen Sharpe who is the head of Oncology at New Amsterdam Hospital. Then we have Jocko Sims reprising the role of Dr. Floyd Reynolds. He is a cardiovascular surgeon as well as the head of the Cardiac Surgical Department. Tyler Labine enacts the character of Dr. Ignatius Frome. He is the psychiatrist as well as the head of the Psychology Department. Then we have the Indian actor Anupam Kher who plays the part of Dr. Vijay Kapoor. He is the head of the Neurological department. Back at the concluding moments of New Amsterdam season 2, we witnessed that Dr. Reynolds is trapped inside of an elevator shaft with a young man who would not stop bleeding. On the other hand, we see that Max is preparing for an alternative to crowdfunding because he has some different beliefs. All this while, we have seen that Dr. Sharpe preparing for the Fight Cancer charity event. During this, he interacts with the people who have been diagnosed with cancer and takes into account everything that they might be feeling. Later on, Dr. Reynolds is finally leaving this hospital to work in San Francisco instead. The last episode of New Amsterdam season 3 was called Matter of Second and it came out back on the 14th of April 2020.

Now, as for the new season of the show, even a release date has been set and you all might already know about it. New Amsterdam season 3 episode 1 release date is set to be the 2nd of March 2021. During this, we witnessed that the episode had been replaced in place of the planned episode called Pandemic. As per the explanation given to all the fans by Ryan Eggold as well as Daniel Dae Kim, they did so because that piece of New Amsterdam season 2 was too similar to the events that were happening at that time because of the Corona pandemic. At this point in time, we were shown some of the scenes from that episode which employed the role of Dr. Cassian Shin. This acted as a medium to introduce us to the character before he actually debuts in the third installment. In this episode, we will witness a plane crashing in the East River. The situation around the show is not as good too because everyone is coming up from the pandemic scenario and trying to adjust to the new normal. This is when the investigators come to ask questions to the flight crew but the pilot will not be able to remember everything because of the crash he has just been through.
